Cross country heats up in Northeast with Battle In Beantown The fifth annual Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College, returns Friday to Franklin Park in Boston. Once again this year some of the top collegiate teams in the country will toe the line. Race times (Eastern) Women – 3 p.m.– 5k Men – 3:30 p.m. – 8k Open race (men & women combined) – 4:30 p.m.
The women's race will kick off the day's action and No. 11 Providence leads the field and should be pushed by Indiana, Georgetown and Illinois. The men's race is led by No. 4 Syracuse. The Orange will roll out most of the 'A' team this weekend, only resting Justyn Knight, who is just getting back into training after making the final at this summer's IAAF World Outdoor Championships 5,000 meters. Knight is expected to open his season when the ACC’s top team travels to Wisconsin in a few weeks. Other top teams in the field inlcude Indiana and Illinois.
